Holiday Fun at Daycare: 7 Festive Activities to Celebrate Christmas

As a daycare owner, you can make Christmas a time of great fun and festivities for the children as well. If you are looking for some wonderful Christmas activities for toddlers in your care, look no further than this guide.

Let us take a look at some of the most enjoyable Christmas activities for preschoolers.

A Festive Sensory Bin

One of the most fun types of activities is creating a Christmas sensory bin. Preschoolers just love to dip their hands in these colorful bins and marvel at the various textures inside.

You can fill up a sensory bin with red, green, white, and other brightly colored noodles, balls, bells, and fake candy. Just make sure none of the little ones put anything in their mouths!

Sparkly Play Dough

Add a little sparkle this Christmas with some colorful and glittery play dough. Just take some play dough and add some gold, silver, green, and red shimmer dust to it to make it sparkle. The dough remains smooth and can last for a long time. Moreover, little toddlers will have great fun playing with this glittery dough that leaves sparkles on their hands.

Fill Up The Christmas Tree

This simple activity only requires some duct tape. Just use duct tape to design a large Christmas tree on the wall or the floor of the daycare center. You can then ask the little one to use large blocks, balls, and other types of toys to fill up the tree.

Colorful Jingle Bracelet

What little child doesn’t love the jingling of bells? An amazingly fun activity is to invite your class to make bell bracelets from a piece of string, colorful bells, and some beads. These are very simple to make but a lot of fun. Just make sure to help the little ones with the knots.

Christmas Book Unboxing

All children love to open presents so they will also love to unwrap a new book each day. Daycare providers can wrap up a children’s Christmas book and place it under their tree. Every day, the little one would pick out a book from the stack and unwrap it. You can spend a wonderful time with the toddlers reading the book together.

Festive Light Finger Painting

A super easy but fun activity is to allow your kids to finger paint. Take out pots of paint, and we highly recommend mixing some glittering shimmer into them. The children will then dip their fingers into the paint and dab them onto paper in various patterns to make beautiful colored lights.

These finger-painted works of art would look amazing as Christmas cards or some wrapping paper.

Christmas Tree Collage

This is a great activity since it can strengthen little hands and refine their motor skills. All you need to do is to create an outline of a Christmas tree on sticky paper. Kids can then tear different pieces of paper and stick them inside the Christmas tree.

To make the tree more festive, you can also make available lightweight decorations like paper butterflies, tiny beads, stickers, and glitter. The kids can then hang this piece of artwork as a Christmas decoration, place them on a table, or give it to their family or friends as a special Christmas greeting card.

A Marble Painted Christmas Card

One of the most fun and personable activities that preschoolers can do is to make beautiful Christmas cards for their mom and dad. Just pour some shaving cream into a shallow tray and allow the kids to pick up their favorite paint colors and drip a few drops onto the shaving cream.

Then give them a small toothpick to create a marbling effect in the shaving cream. Take a piece of white or colored paper and gently press it down into the shaving cream and paint mixture to transfer the colors onto the paper.

Then take a piece of cardboard and firmly press it down onto the card. We do this to wipe off the shaving cream. Allow the card to dry, and let the kids admire their stunning Christmas cards.
